Hey Folks!

We met the other day with the first year coordinator who also used to be our Introduction to
Psychology-lecturer*. We brought our situation (three exams in three consecutive weeks AND the Stroop-assignment) up to
her attention and asked whether an extension for the Stroop-assignment would be possible, given the fact that probably
no one reckoned the work load we are experiencing right now back in January correctly. She said that the they could
postpone the deadline for the first draft at Sm3 (which is the week of our second Developmental partial exam). However,
since Sm3 is the “Peer evaluation of experiment paper” canceling this deadline would probably mean
two things: 1) Many people still would not have gotten any further with the paper, and... 2) … most
important: The possibility for a review of your draft would be gone. You would need to hand in your final version of the
Stroop-assignment at Pm7 (Semester 2B, Week 1) without getting a chance to ask questions and have someone look over
it. Mrs. M. also advised us, that at Sm3 there is a >>draft<< due. Not the final paper, not something that
is perfect. But rather something that shows that you have started working on it. For this reasons, we agreed on not
considering postponing (and hence: canceling) the Sm3 meeting any further. She also acknowledged to us that it is a
“busy” time right now. Last year was worse when people had two exams in one week during the same
time period, so this is kind of like an improvement already. Additionally, Mrs. M. offered to put up a sample paper
from last year's research assignment. It is now online and you can find it on Nestor: NaCoP courses -> Course
Documents -> Information for Stroop task Paper -> Example of good paper, 2009-2010
(cola_taste_perception.pdf) Also, we have received word that some of you have had trouble registering for the
developmental exam. Please, if you experience this kind of trouble and it does not seem to be just "isolated
incidents", let us now! Your Year Representation Guys and Gals. *As a courtesy to privacy, we will post as
few staff member clear names online as possible.
